As a franchise, Persona is an emotionally significant game for so many. What does this character mean to you?
In the simplest terms, she's like a safe space given a face. As the main character she'll love you for being you whether its the main game with a male protagonist or in the PSP version as a female protagonist. A non judgmental person to care for you the way Aegis does in P3 is something I've always wanted to have, so she's a dream for me.
More than why do you want to write as them, but why are they special to you?
Aegis is special because she signifies that anyone can change. That by surrounding yourself with positive people that care and love you, you can become the best version of yourself and thrive as an emotionally driven being.
If there was something you could change about your character in-game,
What would it be and why?
I think it'd be a cool little addition to make Aegis change how she talks, like the phrasing she uses and tone of voice, based on who you have in the main party most. Really show that the interactions she receives changes how she responds to things.
Let Aegis say fuck
Click. She was alive. She wasn't. Schrodinger's sentience. True, her body moved of a will its own. She was not ordered around or controlled. False. She would not accept direction unless it came from them, the one she destined for a terrible fate. No free will, nor slavery. Components spun around cogs and ideas became neurons firing through a nonexistent brain. Being or machine? Neither? Both? She didn't know. That uncertainty brought fear to her core. It was a core. Not a heart. Not muscle, blood, soul. A primary engine running energy through machinery deciding how pistons fire and extend limbs. Fake. Yet it held fear. The metal shuddered and groaned against existential crisis as it continued its cycles. Emotion wasn't robotic. Data raced through systems and processors, Aegis's gaze shifting side to side as she tried to understand herself a little more. A habit. Something she did every so often when empty space claimed her time. A few moments. A few hours. Whatever time it was, she took it as a haven for reflection. If she knew what it was she could be, she could let go of notions of what she had to be.
Clang! She tapped fingers against her own chest. Nothing. Just metal on metal with a resounding echo cutting through silence. There was someone she heard of, a folklore tale depicting someone once in her shoes. Pinocchio. What a brave entity he must have been, enduring hardship of uncertainty to become something true. Could she follow those wooden footsteps? Where would they lead her? Danger lurked in darkness. To trust a blinded path, or to accept inadequacy. Options poor no matter the choice. Cog spinning, spinning, snap! Unable to process, additional upgrades required. She couldn't determine if following past tracks is advised. She thought at least. Mayhap it's more those that gave life refused such emotional advancement unto her kind. Limitation by becoming void. Effective, cruel. She just wished to feel as the others do. To laugh as Junpei so freely had. Understand the heating of cheeks as Yukari. The determination igniting unspeakable strength such as Akihiko's. The--
"Aegis."
Calm voice called out. Cogs shifting into overdrive. Wheels turning, engine pumping in extremes. To be called on by them, their attention on her so suddenly after being lost in thought for too long. She felt something at that. Awkward. Shamed. More than anything, the woman wished to take back the last five minutes and appear more at attention. But time flowed on regardless. It always will. The flaw of life, with what's to come. Yet focus will not stay on such. Rather, a benefit. To be called upon. It made her... She didn't know. Pistons were tight, shooting out too fast. Oculars sweeping the room as if scanning a horde of enemies to comprehend the situation. Yet there was no danger. Rather, there was stimulus. She'd read such an emotion before. But it wasn't in her. It was because of them. But did that matter? Because of them... She felt happy.
"I am coming!"
